SWAMS is currently seeking to recruit 2 Counsellors to be part of our new Social and Emotional Wellbeing Team.
The Counsellor reports to and is directly accountable to the Clinical Lead and is responsible for providing support in the delivery of Social and Emotional Wellbeing care to our SWAMS clients. This counsellor role will be providing SEWB Support services to assist our clients who are dealing with a wide range of issues including grief and loss, depression, domestic and family violence, family and/or relationship matters and any other issues which impact on social and emotional wellbeing.
Specific requirements of this position include but are not limited to;
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualification in Mental Health Nursing, Psychology or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in mental health (and/or drug and alcohol) settings
- Demonstrated knowledge of current issues, standards and trends in the delivery of mental health and SEWB services to Aboriginal people
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team
- Effective organisational and time management skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines.
- Highly developed Interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, policy development, and data collection.
- Knowledge of the local community and able to travel throughout the geographical service area
Desirable Criteria
- Aboriginality is advantageous in this role but is not an essential requirement
- Hold accreditation with the AASW or specific field of service governing body, with the possession of a Medicare Provider Number (or working towards);
- Membership with the Australian Counselling Association or equivalent
All candidates must have a full COVID-19 vaccination certificate, current WA Driver’s Licence and will be required to undertake a National Police Check prior to beginning employment.
The preferred candidate will be required to provide a clear drug and alcohol screen prior to offer of employment.
