About AMSANT:

AMSANT is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services in the Northern Territory and advocates for equity in health, focusing on supporting the provision of high quality comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal communities.

  • Contract Duration: 6 Months

  • Work hours: Part time/ Full time flexibility | 8am – 4:30pm
  • Location: 1 x position in Darwin | 1 x position in Alice Springs

  • Salary: $88, 892 – $ 99,617 (+ Salary Packaging options available)

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Enhance regional and NT wide support mechanisms and networks for ACCH services and organisations in the NT through the development and maintenance of face to face and online learning materials focused on SEWB promising practices including culturally responsive trauma informed practice, suicide prevention and post-vention, workforce development, research and policy.
  2. Collaborate with SEWB Team to design and deliver a range of SEWB, AOD and Mental Health professional learning workshops to staff across NT ACCH services and organisations.
  3. Develop and undertake project work informing best practice models of service delivery in SEWB programs and compliance with operational standards outlined in the relevant programs handbooks.
  4. Network with organisations as a part of a continual improvement promoting cultural and quality assurance processes for the delivery of services.
  5. Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of processes and outcomes across all sites through participatory and development design methodologies to improve and inform SEWB and CRTIC evidence base by taking part in research projects, or academic forums.
  6. Work collaboratively within the SEWB team to contribute to professional learning and reflective practice; general administrative duties and project organisation.

Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  1. Identification as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  2. Knowledge of culturally appropriate approaches to healing practice, SEWB,  AOD and mental health including family support, suicide prevention and Domestic Family and Sexual Violence issues within Aboriginal communities and/or experience in professional development, training and support activities.
  3. High level knowledge of Australian Aboriginal culture, history, understanding of impact of colonisation and how this history relates to current social, emotional and health issues for Aboriginal communities, families and individuals
  4. Understanding of Aboriginal Community Control in the context of health care.
  5. Demonstrated appropriate interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, including the ability to liaise with a range of health services, management and health professionals, elders, and community members.
  6. Ability to support organisation-wide initiatives that fosters Social Emotional Wellbeing for Northern Territory communities.
  7. Proven ability to work in a team and with minimal supervision including proficient ability to use MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  8. A current driver’s licence and ability to travel to remote communities.

Desirable:

  1. Understanding and/or experience in working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation in the Northern Territory.
  2. Ability or willingness to develop online teaching and learning skills including the use of MOODLE.
  3. Certificate IV Training and Assessment
