Kalwun Development Corporation Ltd is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisation currently seeking to fill the following vacancy within our Health and Wellbeing Services division. Kalwun Health and Wellbeing Service delivers a primary health care service to the people of the Gold Coast & surrounding communities.
About the Role
Kalwun is seeking to recruit a Social & Emotional Wellbeing Support Worker to the Social & Emotional Wellbeing team. The Support Worker is responsible for providing support in the delivery of Social & Emotional Wellbeing care to referred clients for mental health & substance misuse.
The SEWB Worker will focus on providing support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients to strengthen their wellbeing in a variety of ways including connection to health services and culturally appropriate activities. This position is full time, Monday to Friday, and based at the Bilinga Clinic.
Position Duties
- Provide cultural support to clients seeking mental health and substance misuse support
- Work collaboratively with the Social & Emotional Wellbeing Care Coordinator, co-managing a caseload of clients
- Facilitate and co-facilitate groups
- Support the goals of the client and that the goals are focussed on building resilience and capacity of the client
- Work in a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic and client centred approach to clients mental health and substance misuse
- Contribute to case reviews
Essential Selection Criteria
- Certificate in the Health, Human Services or Community Services sector
- Able to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients
- Demonstrated experience in delivering programs and activities
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and ability to work with Aboriginal and culturally diverse people
- Experience in the delivery and care coordination services for mental health, alcohol and other drugs or other social supports.
- Current Qld C class drivers licence.

- This position requires the successful applicant to satisfy a national criminal history check and hold a current drivers’ license.
- A Blue Card for working with children is a mandatory requirement. The ‘No Card No Start’ law applies to this position – a Blue Card must be obtained prior to commencement.
