Social Emotional Wellbeing Clinician
Location – Western District (Orange Hub) – location negotiable
Temporary, duration 12 months
Salary – Clerk Grade 5/6
($93,295 – $102,941 p.a. + Superannuation)
This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.
Your role
As part of the Links Trauma Healing Service (LINKS THS) Multi-Disciplinary Team, the Social Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Clinician will provide therapeutic services to improve the wellbeing of children and young people who are in Out of Home Care, their families and carers.
The SEWB Clinician will promote and support the cultural responsiveness of the LINKS THS Multi-Disciplinary Team.
What you’ll do
As a vital part of the Links THS, you will work collaboratively with team members including psychologists, speech pathologists and occupational therapist.
You will provide services inclusive of assessment, therapeutic intervention, consultation and training for young people experiencing trauma symptoms who are in out of home care.
You will work with young people and their caregiving network through a community outreach service and also in Emergency Therapeutic Care.
You will communicate your understanding of the young person and advocate for their needs with identified stakeholders through written reports and verbal communication.
What we’re looking for
A suitably qualified or experienced Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander person who possesses
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, mental-health, allied health or other human service fields; and /or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience working with children and young people experiencing trauma and/or mental health.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework.
- Knowledge of trauma informed practice for children and young people, their families and carers.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in working with children and young people in Out of Home Care.
- Demonstrated ability and / or experience in delivering individual and group-based interventions
- Current driver licence with ability and willingness to travel throughout NSW
Note: In accordance with Clause 26 of the NSW Government Sector Employment (General) Rules 2014 and in accordance with Sections 14 and 21 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 the Department of Communities and Justice considers that being of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent is a genuine occupational qualification for this role and preference will be given to candidates who meet the pre-established standards:
- Documented verification of Aboriginality.
The Department will accept proof of Aboriginality confirming the following:
- You are an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent;
- You identify as being Aboriginal; and
An acceptable form of documented verification is a “Confirmation of Aboriginality” letter, provided to you by a local Aboriginal organisation that includes a common seal from that organisation.
Appointments are subject to reference checks and the following pre-employment checks:
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
- Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
