We are looking for a tertiary qualified, experienced Social Support Worker to join our Hobart team to deliver Family Advocacy and Support Service and provide integrated family violence assistance support services to victims and perpetrators within office bases and in outreach locations, to help families affected by family violence with matters before the Family Law Courts.  This position is identified to engage primarily with men accessing this service.

The Social Support Workers and Lawyers will work together to delivery holistic services so that non-legal issues are identified and addressed alongside legal issues.

The successful applicant will receive regular individual supervision and professional development. And will also have the opportunity to work in a collegial environment with a supported approach to risk and debriefing.

Do you fit the bill?

  • A Degree in Social Worker, Psychology or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Comprehensive knowledge of issues affecting adults and children related to family violence
  • Highly developed negotiation and communication skills
  • The ability to assess risks and safety plan for individuals and families where family violence is present
  • Knowledge of the justice system including police investigations, court operations, offender management and rehabilitation, or ability to quickly acquire such knowledge
