About the role
Calvary Public Hospital Bruce provides a range of inpatient and outpatient services including emergency, intensive care, stroke, mental health, surgical, medical and maternity.
With a reputation for high quality services, our highly skilled social workers provide best practice assessment and holistic care for patients, carers and families. This role is varied and stimulating, involving rotations through key areas of the hospital where you will learn from experienced clinicians and manage your own caseload.
Due to maternity leave we seek a social worker/s with a strong commitment to improving the patient experience and supporting vulnerable people and those in crisis or distress. This role would suit a mature and sensitive clinician who is passionate about supporting patients and colleagues. To succeed, this clinician must also have strong administrative skills, a can do attitude and exceptional communication skills. Flexible work arrangements to support work and home life are available and part time and job share arrangements are possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a Social Work service that includes assessment, crisis/supportive counselling, therapeutic brief intervention, case management, consultation and referral as required.
- Contribute to the work of a multi-disciplinary team in order to meet the goals of the Social Work & Psychology Department, and of the multi- disciplinary team
- Undertake robust administrative duties including the management of intake documents including data management to assist in the preparation of reports and regular statistical information as required
- Participate in staff education and training opportunities
- Liaise with key stakeholders including referring hospitals, inpatient units, outpatients, Aged Care Assessment teams, Residential care facilities, community aged care providers, NDIS providers and statutory authorities
What you bring
- Qualifications in Social Work and eligible for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Competent in Clinical assessment, consultation, liaison and care provision
- Experience in an environment where consumers have complex needs such as hospitals
- The ability to think and work systemically with a good understanding of systems that impact on hospitalised people
- A mature, caring and solution focussed approach
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, resourceful and adaptive to change
- Ability to build relationships with all stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – succinct, clear articulate verbal and written communication
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel and competence in web-based research
- A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
