About Department
We are seeking a Social Worker to join our team at Central Gippsland Health (CGH). This position offers the opportunity to obtain experience with a mixed caseload, across hospital, community and aged care settings in a thriving and vibrant rural health setting.
The CGH Allied Health Department is made up of about 60 professionals in Physiotherapy/Exercise Physiology, Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathlogy, Podiatry and Social Work. The department covers a diverse workload over both community, aged and acute settings. Acute caseload includes working over Critical Care Unit and Short Stay, Emergency Department, Medical , Surgical wards , Womens Health and Peadiatrics. Community caseload covers both group and individual based rehabilitation, outreach at Loch Sport and Rosedale and home-based therapy. CGH offers acute orthopaedics with both total hip and knee replacements happening on site. CGH services four aged care sites in the area.

About the Role
This position will work collaboratively to deliver an effective social work service at CGHS, across the acute, aged care and community settings. This will principally involve social work in the acute hospital setting, which includes crisis intervention, aged care assessment, mental health issues and child protection. Other issues include short term counselling, rehabilitation, group work and education, and grief and bereavement support.
This will occur within the principles of care coordination, where patients/clients/residents have access to a highly coordinated health care and community support system.

- Degree in Social Work
- AASW accreditation or eligible to be accredited
