Social Worker (Client and Family Service Specialist) Allambi Care Limited

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Objective

The Client and Family Service Specialist will work in partnership with families in the community to identify strengths, mitigate risk factors, increase capacity for resilience and promote positive family relationships. The main areas of work are:

  • Family Violence
  • Drug and Alcohol
  • Impacts of Trauma
  • Building Attachment
  • Parenting
  • Mental health
  • Restorations
  • Placement Preservation

Primary duties and responsibilities

The Client and Family Service Specialist will provide interventions to families using a trauma informed strengths based approach informed by the Allambi Care Therapeutic Model, including:

  • Counselling – including Focused Psychological strategies, attachment, trauma, Grief and Loss, Narrative and Solutions focused therapy
  • Family Support – focus on support networks and cultural connections
  • Advocacy
  • Restoration work and parenting capacity assessments
  • Maintaining an average clinical case load (dependant on level of support required) that promotes family preservation and self-sufficiency through targeted in home parenting programmes that focus on skill development, stress management and brief solution focussed counselling.

The Client and Family Service Specialist will also be required to be a part of the facilitation of:

  • Group Work – Parenting groups and groups for young people
  • Training – Strengths based approach
  • Group Supervisions and Practice Consultations
  • Staff wellbeing programs

The Client and Family Service Specialist will also take on a collaborative role, in consultation with:

  • Case Workers
  • Case Manager
  • Internal Clinicians
  • Department Managers
  • Department Directors
  • External Stakeholders

The Client and Family Service Specialist will:

  • Incorporate best practice methods in family work.
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with a variety of situations.
  • Conduct and formulate training on various topics as the role grows.
  • Prepare professionally written reports on family and individual complexities and behavioural functioning to internal and external sources.

Minimum requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work. (BA Social Work)
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to practice strength based approaches when working with families, effective parenting and behaviour management techniques and knowledge of child development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the stressors on vulnerable families and the range of family risks and protective factors that impact on child outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise, network and collaborate with other agencies and service providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to the AASW practice standards and code of ethics.
  • Demonstrated effective communication (both written and verbal) and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training packages to meet staff needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate group work with parents and/or young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven ability to develop and design training in consultation with internal and external stakeholders that are informed by relative policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to investigate and resolve complex issues, communicate and consult effectively with staff and external stakeholders.
