What you’ll be doing:
Join the Windsor Community Health Team in the capacity of a Social Worker Level 1 / 2 in a permanent full time basis. This localised community team is a tight knit team dedicated to the Hawkesbury Community and making a difference to the lives of all that we interact with.  Our Social Worker will play a large role in the team, providing recovery-oriented services to clients who are seriously affected by their mental illness as well as interacting with their families or carers. Our preferred candidate will use a proactive approach with assessments and interventions, and will be able to  establish collaborative and respectful relationships with all consumers. 

The role of a Social Worker is: 

  • To ensure optimal outcomes for consumers who are affected by a severe and enduring mental illness and their carers through the promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care.
  • To work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of patient care.
  • To act as an advocate for the specific needs of all consumers and their carers including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups providing appropriate care to the patient/client undergoing specialised procedures.
  • To maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the NBMLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations.
  • To provide support and clinical supervision/ preceptorship/ mentoring to all students and/or staff in accordance with relevant skills and experience.
  • To effectively manage resources relevant to the service.

Selection criteria to be addressed:

  1. Minimum bachelor’s degree and eligibility for membership of AASW and extensive specialist knowledge or high level of broad generalist knowledge.
  2. Demonstrated skills in mental health and discipline specific assessments and interventions and experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illness.
  3. Experience working in a Community Mental Health Treatment Team and/or knowledge of the principles that guide service delivery within this model of practice.
  4. Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and understanding of recovery principles in mental health service provision.
  5. Demonstrated working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act, 2007.
  6. Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and good interpersonal skills.
  7. Computer competence and literacy.
  8. Current driver’s licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
