The Position
St John of God Richmond Hospital is a private mental health hospital northwest of Sydney providing comprehensive and holistic mental health care services in a tranquil setting.
A vacancy exists for a highly motivated social worker with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly Allied Health Department as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team in the role of Social Worker (Grade 2), either on a permanent full time or part time job-share basis. The Role will include:
- Work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team at St John of God Hospital
- Provide short term social work counselling and case work intervention to patients experiencing a range of mental health conditions with multiple psychosocial complexities requiring inpatient care.
- Opportunity to provide assessment and group psychological therapy with clients across both inpatient and outpatient settings promoting recovery and trauma informed care
- Work in close partnership with local non-government organisations

The successful candidate will have (Selection Criteria):
- A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Work.
- Demonstrated clinical experience in mental health within a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated high level written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrable ability to undertake professional supervision and/or mentor junior staff and to promote professional competence and growth in staff.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the provision of evidence-based social work interventions including assessment, case management and counselling/therapeutic interventions.
