Hamers Edge delivers quality services to children, teens and adults with Autism, FASD and/or Psycho-Social disability on the NDIS.

As a Social Work based provider, Hamers Edge makes a distinction between impairment and disability. While impairment refers to the differences in capacity that can cause difficulty in everyday functioning, disability represents the larger and more complex interaction between an individual with impairment and the structures and processes of society. In our eyes, it is not physical, cognitive, or sensory impairments that cause disability but rather how the world fails to accommodate natural aspects of differences between people.

At Hamers Edge, we focus on assisting participants in exploring how life best works for them instead of making them fit into a narrow societal expectation.

Hamers Edge is a small and passionate business that is well governed. We are based in Midland, where we have a dedicated clinic room. However, we see clients throughout Perth Metro. Service requests in Peel, South-West or Wheatbelt are considered case-by-case basis.

ABOUT THE SOCIAL WORK ROLE

We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and experienced independent contractor to support our business in undertaking Social Work based Functional Capacity Assessments. 

At Hamers Edge, we focus on Functional Capacity Assessments for participants with a diagnosis of Autism, FASD and/or psycho-social disabilities. Our unique Social Work approach includes assessment of the client’s life domains, eco-mapping and Vineland-3 (or ABAS) standardised assessment. In addition, we address all of the NDIS Reasonable and Necessary Criteria for each recommendation we make.

As an Independent Contractor, you will have control over the days and times you work and the suburbs you work in (within Metro, Peel, South-West, or Wheatbelt WA), and you will control the number of assessments you would like to be referred. Clients can be seen in their own home or at our clinic room in Midland, and report writing can be done from home. 

Working as a contractor means managing your own work schedule and working independently whilst still having access to support and assistance. 

The ideal applicant has excellent attention to detail, the ability to think out of the box, solid report writing skills, a passion for the Social Work profession, and takes great pride in their work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• The successful applicant will provide Functional Capacity Assessments to Hamers Edge’s clients with a diagnosis of Autism, FASD and/or Psycho-Social Disability
• Conducting a thorough assessment of the client’s functional capacity through interviewing, review of medical and therapeutic reports, eco-mapping, and standardised assessments
• Interpret all collected data to make evidence-based recommendations on what mainstream and NDIS supports are expected to improve the client’s life
• Detailed report writing, with draft completion no later than two weeks following the final assessment appointment, unless otherwise agreed by the client
• Ensure appropriate written and verbal communication with key stakeholders as required and in a timely manner
• Communicate and work efficiently and collaboratively with the client’s team to ensure best practice & integrated client care
• Remain an accredited Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) by engaging in ongoing skill development, social work identity and supervision

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Selection Criteria:

• Bachelor or Master of Social Work
• Minimum 5 years post-grad experience
• AASW Member
• Sound report writing skills
• Pearson Clinical Level B user or willingness to obtain this
• ABN registered
• Reliable transport
• Laptop / Computer + strong administrative and computer skills
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Working With Children Check

Desirable Skills:

• Solid understanding of the NDIS system

REMUNERATION

• $95-$105 per NDIS billable hour. On average, a client provides 15 hours (excluding travel) in a Service Agreement with Hamers Edge to undertake a Functional Capacity Assessment. 
• Superannuation contributions per statutory rate on billable hours paid into your Super.
