About the Service:
We are looking for Social Workers to join our Mental Health Social Work Casual Team. Casual Social Workers are used to support us in filling temporary vacancies across the mental health service (Hunter New England Health District wide).
HNE Mental Health Service provides a range of mental health services across the Hunter New England LHD in both inpatient and community settings. Successful applicants will be asked to nominate preference of location and the days/hours they are available.
About the role:
This is a great opportunity for a social worker wanting to further develop their skills and knowledge working within the mental health practice context.
It also provides an opportunity for you learn about the mental health service and our internal policies and processes, all of which would support you in applying for permanent positions with the service.
The role of a Social Worker within HNE Mental Health varies depending on the practice setting however the focus on psychosocial assessment and intervention, collaboration with key stakeholders, person centred care and family inclusive practice is consistent across the service.
Social Workers promote ways of working that are strengths based and trauma informed, and a holistic approach to understanding the experiences of service users.
You will be supported by the Service Manager and Senior Social Worker in the team you are working, along with the Head of Profession for HNE MH Social Work. You will have access regular clinical supervision and opportunities for professional development.
About you:
We are looking for Social Workers with an interest in working within the mental health practice setting.
You will need to have well developed interpersonal skills, skills in conducting psychosocial assessments and developing intervention plans with consumers, and work in a way that demonstrates a commitment to person centred and family inclusive practice.
Appointments from the Casual Pool are generally temporary contracts and so the successful applicant will need to be able to learn and adapt to the role quickly.
Applicants will be given the opportunity at interview to identify preference of location and hours available.
Information for Applicants:
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases – this is a Category A position. Please read and understand NSW Health policy directive (PD2022_030). All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in the policy.
