We have an exciting opportunity for a fully qualified Social Worker to join a supportive and dynamic team at the Mater Hospital- North Sydney.
About the role
· 2-day per week Permanent Part Time Contract- 15 hour/week
· Days and hours of work negotiable.
· Areas of work include oncology, palliative care, renal, ICU, general medicine, cardiac, acute orthopaedics
· Opportunity for group based work.
· Supervision provided from Social Work Lead
· Ongoing Professional Development
About You
The successful candidate will provide a social work service at a high level of clinical practice to inpatients and their carers of the Mater Hospital in the designated clinical areas. This is by way of:
· Participating as a member of multidisciplinary teams.
· Carrying out the responsibilities of the position in a manner consistent with the philosophy, values and mission of Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
· Ensuring a high level of social work practice is maintained consistent with professional standards as defined by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
· Committing to ongoing professional development and teaching through research, education and social work students.
· Participating in strategic planning and quality improvement activities.
· Participating in meetings of AASW Special Interest Groups and other groups of relevance to the delivery of a high quality Social Work Service to patients at the Mater.
Essential requirements
· Degree/Diploma in Social Work
· Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
· Demonstrate behaviours that reinforce the core values of The Mater
· Demonstrated ability to manage a demanding workload and prioritise where necessary
· Evidence of the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
· Computer literacy
· Commitment to quality improvement
Desirable Criteria
· Demonstrated experience/expertise in acute hospital care
· Ability to be flexible and dynamic with work hours
· Experience or interest in group work
