Then you could be the perfect Social Worker – Palliative Care (Lvl 3) to join the professionals at Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network. Specifically, we’re looking for a healthcare professional that holds a Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Current registration with AHPRA and evidence of clinical experience in a hospital or health related field as a practising Social Worker. Importantly, if you are an overseas resident with a temporary visa, please apply. This position will be open to you if no suitable Australian permanent resident or citizen is identified.

Here at Justice Health & Forensic Mental Health Network, the Social Worker Palliative Care is responsible for the development and provision of bereavement support, psychosocial and connected care towards and at the end of life and/ or palliative care period for patients, their families and carers across Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (the Network). The care is consistent with NSW Health, Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (the Network) policies, procedures and standards

The first step is to submit your resume and your answers to the following selection criteria:

  1. Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with clinical experience in a hospital or health related field as a practising Social Worker.

  2. Demonstrated knowledge, advanced clinical skills and experience in life limiting illness in inpatient and community based palliative care, including therapeutic counselling and care of patients, families and carers.

  3. Demonstrated competencies in comprehensive psycho-social assessments, crisis intervention, anticipatory grief, loss and bereavement, complex clinical casework, end of life care and individual, couple, family, carer work.

  4. Demonstrated commitment, experience and ability to work as a member of multidisciplinary in a specialised environment.

  5. Well-developed skills in written and verbal communication, computer literacy, time management, prioritisation, liaison and negotiation.

  6. Ability to undertake and contribute to research projects and lead quality improvement and education activities and a commitment to maintaining professional skills and knowledge base.

  7. Current NSW Driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the Network.

  8. Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the values of the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network.
