The opportunity
An exciting opportunity is now available for a Full-time Mental Health Worker to join the RivMed Mental Health Team. We are looking for a Social Worker, Psychologist or qualified Counsellor to join our established, growing team of metal health workers.
The Role
The position will sit within the RivMed Mental Health Team, situated in our Medical Offices in Edward Street, Wagga Wagga.
The Mental Health Worker will provide trauma informed therapeutic care to children, young people, adults, families and carers. As a therapeutic specialist, your role is to guide assessment, develop and monitor treatment plans, equip staff through training and reflective practice sessions and collect data on outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological, social, emotional, cognitive, developmental, behavioral and functional assessments.
- Deliver and evaluate therapeutic interventions including psycho-education, counseling, behavior management, behavior support services, group interventions and other evidence based therapies e.g. TF-CBT, PCIT, EMDR.
- Providing consultation to staff and managers to assist in the decision making process on psychological, developmental, and emotional and behavior management issues.
- Delivering training to staff, families, carers, foster parents and external agencies.
- Providing clinical recommendations to internal and external parties.
- Maintaining electronic clinical records and provide written reports.
- Participate in regular supervision with your supervisor
- Liaise with community and health linkers to provide optimal services for clients

Selection criteria
This is not an Aboriginal identified role however Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Qualifications as a Social Work, Psychologist or Counsellor
- Demonstrated advanced practice skills and an ability to use evidence based psychometric assessment tools, including the capacity to provide psycho-educational and therapeutic group programs to adults, children and family groups.
- Ability to develop and implement treatment and recovery plans for individuals, groups and families as required.
- Demonstrated advanced practice stills and an ability to undertake psychological testing
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and computer proficiency, including the ability to use the client information management system (Communicare).
- Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate accountability and willingness to take direction and provide written reports.
- WWCC / Police Check and drivers licence (travel throughout the Riverina area – RivMed vehicles provided).
