Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you’ll be doing
 
The Safeguards Team is a new dedicated PCYMHS resource designed to provide innovative and best practice care to children and adolescents aged 0 -17 years, experiencing acute mental health distress. This team is a community based and provides rapid, mobile and flexible care to resolve mental health crisis, including assertive outreach, care coordination and time limited therapeutic interventions. This team operates 7 days/week with extended hours on weekdays, and will respond to young people in their schools, homes and communities and in hospital -based setting (EDs/Wards), through face to face, phone telehealth appointments.
 
The Social Worker position within Safeguards Team, provides specialist integrated psychosocial responses to consumers who experience complex and severe mental health conditions. This role provides specific recovery-oriented interventions including but not limited to: specialist crisis/therapeutic medium to long-term counselling, referral, and liaison with carers and family members within a trauma informed context. This position provides quality clinical and social work services to consumers and carers with an aim of optimal outcomes.

Essential Criteria:

Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Worker (AASW)
Registration: Membership of the AASW

Selection Criteria:

  1. Relevant qualifications as a Social worker and eligible for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience providing evidence-based assessment and treatment for children and/or adolescents and their families.
  3. Ability to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved consumer care and outcomes.
  5. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
  6. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and services evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
  7. Extensive contemporary experience and knowledge of social work practice, as well as demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma informed care and its applications when working with children/adolescents and families/carers.
  8. Holds a Valid Class C Driver’s Licence of NSW
