About the role: Reporting to the Program Manager, the Social Worker will provide clinical services to a maximum of 10 participants and support the development of a multi-disciplinary approach to participants experiencing comorbidity, mental and physical health conditions. They will provide pre-emptive measures regarding health issues and work in partnership with participants and significant others, psychiatrists, support agencies and other health care providers.
About the program: The HASI+ program in Kempsey is a transitional rehabilitation and recovery-oriented, high intensity program for people with severe mental illness and significant functional impairment. The program integrates dedicated clinical and intensive psycho-social support on a 24/7 basis with stable community-based accommodation.
Hours and location: This position is based in Kempsey, and you will be working with participants face to face. A vehicle is available for work in the community. The hours are 35 per week until 30th June 2026. Hours during the day are flexible.
About you: Selection criteria:
Qualifications and checks
- A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for full membership to AASW
- Current Driver’s Licence, A satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Working with Children Check, COVID vaccination and First Aid certificate.
Professional skills and experience
- A minimum of three years’ experience working in a mental health care setting providing a range of Social Work interventions to participants who are part of the HASI+ target group.
- Understanding of methodologies in the treatment and management of mental health disorders such as CBT, ACT, CFT, somatic therapy, mindfulness and psychosocial support.
- Specialist mental health skills and experience in assessment and proactively case managing complex mental health conditions and co-morbidly.
- Demonstrated high proficiency using the Microsoft suite, a variety of databases and video conferencing applications

This role will be remunerated at SCHCDS Level 5 $47.50-49.65ph which is a package up to $101k including superannuation with access to salary packaging to potentially increase your take home pay by another 5k.
