Social Worker – Therapy Services Autism SA

We have a exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to join our Therapy Services team, based out of our Elizabeth location.

  • Permanent Full-time position.
  • Work with a broad range of other highly skilled allied health professionals
  • Supportive team structure with regular supervision from Lead Clinician Social Worker

Your new role

In this role, you will apply clinical and professional competence to provide therapeutic intervention to clients and their families/carers to empower, achieve goals and live successfully within the community according to their own measure of success.  You will assess the social needs of individuals and families, assist and empower people to develop and use the skills and resources needed to resolve social and other problems and further improve wellbeing and exercise human rights, social justice and social development.

 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assess the social needs of individuals utilising appropriate assessments, intervention strategies and processes
  • Develop and maintain flexible and effective communication with individuals on the Autism Spectrum and any relevant stakeholders
  • Utilise Social Work knowledge and skills to provide consultative support to relevant stakeholders as appropriate
  • Use evidence-based assessment tools, to lead assessment of real need and real risk for individuals and/or their families
  • Use evidence-based interventions and strategies to create individual goals and outcomes in collaboration with clients and other relevant stakeholders

 

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Degree in Social Work recognised by the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Registration (or eligibility to register upon appointment) with the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Substantial experience in working directly with individuals on the autism spectrum
  • Substantial experience in consultancy in the field of disabilities, and working collaboratively with families and service providers
