Social Worker – Transition to Mental Health South West Healthcare

Located on the beautiful Great South Coast, South West Healthcare offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and psychiatric services.  The organisation serves a catchment in excess of 110,000 and comprises of a total of 282 beds and an extensive range of primary and community services.

Warrnambool boasts excellent sporting, education (pre-school to university), social and cultural facilities. The city’s award winning foreshore promenade is a 5.7km path that stretches from the breakwater along the coastline to the Hopkins River mouth.   

About the role

South West Healthcare (SWH) believes in providing a highly supportive environment for Social Workers in our Transition program, encouraging professional development and excellence.  Our aim is to provide clinical structured support during the transition to the mental health sector.

This program offers the opportunity for you to consolidate and apply theoretical knowledge by developing skills in a variety of clinical rotations through our Mental Health teams.

This transition role is a supernumerary position within our mental health services with dedicated study time and access to our Mental Health Social Work Educator

Position Overview

  • 2 Full Time, Fixed Term (12 month) positions (80 hours per fortnight with a monthly ADO) commencing January 2024

What you bring

The successful Social Work applicant will bring at least 2 years of professional experience in a sector other than mental health. Transitioning Social Workers employed into these positions will bring discipline specific skills into the sector as well as valuable diversity of experience that will benefit the mental health and wellbeing workforce, such as expertise in physical health, aged care, disability or family violence.
