PsychPhys is a Victorian Community Support Program and the only program of its kind within Australia. We have an expansive footprint spanning across some of the largest single low socioeconomic communities in Victoria.

Our programs have been developed to allow individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, Learning/Developmental Delays, Cognitive Impairments, and/or Mental Health concerns the opportunity to Shine!

We deliver our programs to individuals between the age of 4yrs – 11yrs; 12yrs -21yrs; and 21+yrs.  We Specialise in the provision of support services to government and non-government agencies, schools, Treating Health Professionals, and individuals/families.

About the role

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner looking for the next step in their career. You will be passionate about providing high level programs and services to your clients.

The role is a senior member of our Behavior Support Team and will directly report to the Clinical Lead – Behavior Support Programs. The role is responsible for working in collaboration across our Frankston catchment area; and will work closely and collaboratively with colleagues to ensure our strong multidisciplinary approach remains at the forefront of what we do.

The position location is located at our Frankston  practice site. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver tailored Behavior Support Programs 
  • Develop and implement Behavior Support Plans 
  • Complete Functional Behavioural Assessments, along with screening assessments, in order to establish strategies to be implemented within the required setting that are specific to the individual and environment.
  • Support families and the broader community in understanding the NDIS, access pathways, and other services available in the community
  • Engage in transdisciplinary planning (and at times intervention) for clients with complex behavioural support needs, in line with Best Practice.
  • Implement company goals, and ensure compliance in company/program safety Practices, Policies, and Procedures
  • Do your bit to maintain a culture built on Motivation and success
  • Engage in the NDIS planning process with families and clients with high level behaviour support needs
  • Work collaboratively with a range of key stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure success of the proposed objectives of the service
  • Establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a partnership approach.
  • Maintain clinical case notes and other documentation as ethically required
  • Represent the company at Care Team Meetings and support the Team in attending these meetings in line with company processes and procedures
  • Comply with all Professional Development and supervision requirements as per operational requirements

About You

To successfully fulfill the responsibilities of this position it is essential (unless otherwise indicated) you will have the following:

  • A relevant qualification and/or work experience relevant to the role
  • Experience and/or full understanding/knowledge of NDIS Behaviour Support Frameworks and Guidelines; and Restrictive Practices
  • Experience developing and implementing cohesive and collaborative BSP’s
  • Promotes benefits of healthy, safe, and independent living
  • Demonstrated skill in working as part of a multidisciplinary team with a sound understanding of the role of Behaviour Support Practitioner 
  • Demonstrated experience/interest in the provision of evidence-based assessment and interventions
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)  with particular emphasis on interpersonal communication skills, establishing trust and rapport, maintaining confidentiality, Report writing; and record-keeping
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of information technology, internet, and desktop applications; e.g. electronic client record systems, google workplace and database packages

Appointment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of Safety Screening to requirements including but not limited to:

  • National and or International (if applicable) Police Criminal Check
  • Valid and up to date Working with Children Check
  • Verification of unrestricted work rights in Australia, eg citizenship, passport, or birth certificate
  • Certified copies of qualifications
  • Current Driver’s License and access to a Vehicle
  • Full Covid-19 Vaccination status
