Specialist Counsellor Carers NSW

JOB DESCRIPTION

Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities, programs, training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances. 

As the Carer Gateway Service Provider (CGSP) in Region 4 of NSW (Central Coast, Hunter New England and North Coast) we are currently searching for a Specialist Counsellor to join our team based remotely in the Northern Rivers area and with travel around the area required.

As the Specialist Counsellor, you will provide specialist counselling for carers and their families that have been affected by the severe storms and floods, utilising evidence-based counselling specific to the carer’s individual circumstances.  This position will conduct counselling sessions both face to face and via video conference. 

This is a new position and will appeal to you if you enjoy working in a supportive team and are seeking a role that creates positive impact in the lives of others. 

This is a fulltime or part time position until June 2023.

Our ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:

 

  • Qualified counsellor, psychotherapist or social worker for relevant service modes with qualifications recognised within Australia
  • Accredited with a relevant Australian professional association, Australian Counselling Association, Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia or Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated counselling experience
  • Demonstrated ability to design, plan, deliver and evaluate group work programs
  • Knowledge of community services and other programs relevant to carers.
  • Experience working with people to arrange support services
  • Knowledge of the community care and health systems and other programs relevant to carers
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills 
  • Strong understanding of Mandatory reporting and privacy requirements
  • Strong computer, administration and organisational skills.

Salary and Benefits

The Salary is around $98K + super. Additional benefits include salary sacrificing benefits, flexible work arrangements, a highly supportive team environment, excellent training and development opportunities and health and wellness programs.
