JOB DESCRIPTION

Micah Projects has been providing services to people who have experienced childhood abuse in institutional care for over 25 years.

Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (BDVS) is the specialist domestic violence service for the Brisbane metropolitan region. Brisbane Domestic Violence Service is funded by the Department of Justice and Attorney General to provide free and confidential services to adults and children who have been impacted by domestic and family violence. BDVS has a focus on achieving safety and stability for the individuals and families that we support. 

How you will make a Difference:

As a Specialist Domestic Violence and Housing Advocate you will work as part of the team to provide mobile support to women and children, or other victims who are in housing crisis due to domestic and family violence to access safe affordable and appropriate emergency and long-term housing options.

This is a part-time permanent employment opportunity located at West End, with conditions and salary at Level 3 of the SCHADS Award.

 

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to hold a relevant qualification and/or extensive experience, or a combination of experience, expertise, and competence.

You will also have Knowledge of or ability to acquire relevant knowledge of legislation and regulations, such as The Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and The Child Protection Act 1999. You will also have demonstrated experience in working with people in a human service setting, knowledge and experience in collaborative teamwork, service navigation, and local community supports and ability to learn cross-disciplinary responses to domestic and family violence housing and homelessness is also essential to this position.
