Reporting to the Manager Behavioural Health Programs (BHP), the Women and Children’s Family Violence Counsellor provides evidence-based counselling support with the wellbeing and development of themselves and their children. They help connect people directly to services and provide coordinated response to a range of different needs, and where required a whole-or-family violence response, including holding perpetrators to account. All counselling provided for women and children is client-centred, strength-based and trauma-informed.

Counsellors will have advanced knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning, and the MARAM framework and information sharing guidelines to minimise risk with victim survivors of family violence.

As per the minimum mandatory qualifications requirements via https://www.vic.gov.au/mandatory-minimum-qualifications-specialist-family-violence-practitioners all candidates wishing to apply for this role must be able to demonstrate these specific requirements.

  1. Current Victorian driver licence.
  2. Latrobe Community Health Service complies with infectious disease control and immunisation requirements under legislation. This position is classified as a Health Care Worker B. Evidence of immunisation history must be provided prior to confirmed appointment.
