- Full time, fixed term contract until 30 June 2025

About the role
A unique and interesting position for an experienced family violence practitioner based within the Victoria Police Family Violence Investigation Unit located at the Multidisciplinary Centre, Dandenong. The aim of this position is to reduce the impact of family violence on women and children by intervening early and keeping perpetrators in view.
Using evidence based frameworks and human centred actions the Alexis Senior Practitioner will accompany police on safe home visits to meet with female victim survivors and children and provide early intervention support. The Senior Practitioner will conduct risk and needs assessments, create individuated safety plans and develop short term case plans with women and families who are engaged with the FVIU. The practitioner works collaboratively with the FVIU to identify gaps and build the family violence knowledge and capacity of detectives within the unit. Practitioners maintain regular contact with the Advanced Family Violence Practice Leaders located at SMA The Orange Door to share information and coordinate responses.
About you
- Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in social work, or a related discipline. (Compliant with Family Violence Minimum Qualifications (Rec 209) https://www.vic.gov.au/mandatory-minimum-qualifications-specialist-family-violence-practitioners
- A minimum of two years family violence case management experience
- Previous experience working within a multidisciplinary environment will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the gendered nature of family violence and the impacts on families.
- Be skilled in understanding and supporting the needs of children and young people impacted by family violence.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously under limited direction.
- Be able to work collaboratively and be creative with your approach to practice.
- Be competent at time management.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds in a variety of settings.
- Demonstrated computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SHIP or related CRM.
This role requires a current Driver’s Licence and valid ‘Employment’ category – Working with Children Check clearance. The candidate will need to have successfully completed Wayss pre-employment screening, a police check and provide evidence of full Covid-19 vaccination compliance.
