Why this role matters

The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.
Bayside Peninsula Family Violence Services operates across multiple sites to deliver high quality services to women and children who are experiencing, at risk of experiencing or recovering from Family Violence in the Bayside Peninsula Area.

About the role

As the Specialist Family Violence Practitioner – Case Management Team, you will bring your wealth of knowledge and compassion to this role to deliver high quality, safe and effective responses to women, children and families seeking support and safety through Bayside Peninsula Family Violence Services.

Bayside Peninsula Family Violence Services works with service users from a feminist perspective, aiming to empower and increase the safety of women and children. All staff are required to work within a trauma informed practice environment and are expected to work creatively towards ensuring that the safety and support needs of all women and children accessing the services are the priority.

You will successfully

  • Provide ongoing case management support to women and children experiencing family violence through service planning, targeted interventions, and coordinated referrals
  • Identify, assess, and prioritise risk and needs of women and children
  • Work collaboratively with Victoria Police and other community organisations and stakeholders
  • Submit requests to Team Leader for allocation into case management services for women and children

This is a fixed term (until 30 June 2024), full time position based in Frankston with connections to the Windsor FV Office. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.

You will have

  • Demonstrated experience working in the family violence sector (desirable)
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, or equivalent formal learning. The minimum mandatory qualifications requirements are in place in Victoria and have been since the 1st of July 2021. They are available on https://safeandequal.org.au/working-in-family-violence/minimum-qualifications/
  • Knowledge of the physical, emotional, psychological, and behavioural impact of trauma and abuse
  • Understands and applies FDV models, approaches, theories, and practices when dealing with clients
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FDV including context, principles, philosophies, policies, regulations, and legislation
  • Understands and applies FDV models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients
  • Gathers, provides, promotes, reviews, and evaluates information to educate the wider community about FDV and encourage their involvement and support
  • A national police record check is required
  • Current and valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check
  • Current and valid Victorian Driver’s Licence
