Senior Psychologist – ($111,673.00 – $121,301.00 per annum)  
Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 – ($105,719.00 – $109,188.88 per annum)

What you will be doing:  

An exciting opportunity is available to join The Whole Family team within NBMLHD as a Specialist Mental Health ClinicianThe Whole Family Team is a multi-disciplinary team that provides specialist in-home and community based interventions for children and families with complex mental health and drug and alcohol issues where the children have been identified as at risk of significant harm. The team follows an assertive outreach model of care and works intensively with families for up to twelve months.

 

The Specialist Mental Health Clinician will provide mental health and psychosocial assessments of adults and children, intensive case management, specialist individual and family based interventions, within their professional scope of practice, referral and psycho-education to family members in accordance with relevant guidelines and literature.

Facilitation of skills based group interventions that may be provided to groups of families or groups of individuals from families receiving intervention from the WFT.

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:

  1. • Occupational Therapist, Counsellor – Recognised tertiary qualifications and registration with AHPRA and significant clinical experience in a mental health setting • Social Worker – Must hold as a minimum a Bachelor Degree and eligibility for membership of Australian Association of Social Workers and significant clinical experience in a mental health setting • Nursing – Relevant post-registration qualification and a minimum 3 years’ experience in a mental health setting • Senior Psychologist – a four year degree in psychology being a three year degree with a fourth year honours or who has qualifications deemed equivalent by the LHD and who is registered as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. • Current Senior Psychologist or eligible for senior Psychologist grading (with no less than 12 months service at the 9th year of service and thereafter rate)
  2. Demonstrated experience and competence in family focused, evidence based psychosocial assessment and intervention with a complex caseload in a community setting. This includes specialist knowledge of; • The impact and treatment of parental mental illness and drug and alcohol problems on family functioning • intra-familial child abuse and neglect • family focussed integrated treatment including risk assessment and safety planning.
  3. Demonstrated advanced reasoning skills with proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team with minimal direct clinical supervision.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to act as an independent consultant and clinical leader in the specialty area of family focused mental health
  5. Demonstrated partnership building and negotiation skills with a wide range of service providers and well developed understanding of the interface between services
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of the historical and contemporary issues which may impact on Australian Aboriginal family functioning and ability to provide a culturally appropriate service
  7. Evidence of an advanced level of verbal/written communication skills, analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to apply these skills to contribute to the Whole Family Team ongoing evaluation, monitoring and enhancement of service delivery
  8. Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
