The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence and Youth Streams provide and integrated suite of services to young people and women and children impacted by family and domestic violence. Our services create intentional pathways and opportunities for young people, Women and their accompanying children to build support networks, access, participate and contribute to their communities. The Youth and Family violence Streams offer a diverse range of services including, refuge, children and parenting services, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses, youth justice, housing and homelessness, education, training and employment and driver training.

About the role
We are currently seeking values-driven proactive Specialist Youth Family Violence Practitioners who will report directly to the Team Leader. This role is instrumental in providing responsive assertive outreach to young people between the ages of 16-24 who are experiencing or at high risk of experiencing domestic and family violence.

You will successfully

  • Build effective professional relationships with young people that encourage self-determination and participation
  • Provide support and referral to services and community connections that will prevent the experience and use of violence or reduce the risk for escalation of violence for the young person
  • Implement and develop individual case plans in collaboration with the young person while ensuring it includes a range of interventions that address the needs or goals of them
  • Accurate and up to date client records including case notes and date are maintained for all clients in accordance with TSA standards and procedures using TSA information systems
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant sectors through reading of relevant articles and materials

These are maximum term (until June 2025) full time roles based in Darwin, NT. The salary and conditions for the roles are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 5 Award. Multiple positions are available.

You will have

  • A degree qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field
  • Demonstrated high level of sector knowledge and skills attained through previous roles, service and study/development
  • A First Aid Certificate
  • Relevant Working with Children and Police Clearances
  • A current NT drivers Licence
