Are you passionate about making a positive difference in lives of individuals and communities? Do you want to join a dedicated team working in suicide postvention and community education? If so, then becoming a member of our support team might be the perfect fit for you!

We have an opportunity for casuals to join UnitingCare’s StandBy – Support After Suicide team, based within the Darling Downs and West Moreton (PHN) region. Our support team roles would suit someone working part-time, studying or retired who is looking for the freedom of casual hours.

As a StandBy Response Worker, you will provide person-centred support to those who have been impacted or bereaved through suicide. Working in a team environment, you will have the opportunity to co-facilitate support sessions, community events and workshops. As this rewarding role is in a specialist area, you will be provided with guidance and training through debriefing, external supervision, team meetings and professional development opportunities.

What makes a difference for us?
This role requires:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated knowledge, practical experience and skill in critical incident response/psychological first aid  
  • Understanding of grief and bereavement through a trauma informed lens
  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated awareness of reflective practice and self-care
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is desirable, however preferred applicant will be supported to obtain upon recruitment
  • Current Qld Driver Licence
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card – Paid)
  • Reside within the PHN and have flexibility to travel from time-to-time
