Student Accessibility & Equity Specialist

Student Wellness Centre

  • Continuing, full-time
  • $104,243 to $120,977 per annum (HEO 8)
  • Plus 17% employer superannuation
  • Salary packaging options are available
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus Christmas week shutdown, per annum
  • Armidale location preferred, but other locations and hybrid arrangements will be considered
  • Relocation assistance provided if incumbent will be based in Armidale

About the role

The Student Accessibility and Equity Specialist is responsible for leading and managing the accessibility and equity function at UNE. This includes providing services and timely access for students with disabilities and/or those facing additional barriers to their studies and for providing expert advice on student accessibility to higher education through mechanisms such as study access plans, accessible curriculum services and assistive technologies. You will be responsible for leading a team of student accessibility and equity subject matter experts. You will also be responsible for driving leading practice and innovation in accessibility and ensuring that best practice is modelled by UNE with regard to digital accessibility. The role requires collaboration and consultation with faculty staff and other central portfolios.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in student accessibility and equity in higher education
  • Proven experience in leading a team
  • Demonstrate capability to innovate around accessibility and equity in a higher education context

About the Group

The Student Experience Portfolio is orientated around supporting our students across locations and modes. The student accessibility and wellbeing office leads our efforts around accessibility and equity, ensuring best practice and working in collaboration with other student services to ensure high quality student outcomes. We are looking for an individual who works best in a distributed leadership model, with strong collaboration with other leaders and who can work with others to build maturity in the function.
