About the Unit
The Student Wellbeing unit is tasked with ensuring that students have access to an integrated and coordinated program of support and risk management for non-academic matters. The focus of this unit is on providing health, wellbeing, and mental health services and support for students, along with support for AccessAbility and Equity initiatives to help students navigate a smooth and successful journey throughout their studies.

In this role you will:
- Lead and Inspire: Motivate and guide a team of student advocates, fostering a collaborative and empowering environment to ensure the highest level of advocacy, advice and support for students.
- Advocacy Leadership: Spearhead efforts to address student concerns about university policy, procedure, and process, representing their interests to university administration and faculty. Drive initiatives to create policy, procedure and process that enhance student success, retention and well-being, diversity, and inclusion.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with university departments and student organisations to create synergies and promote a holistic student experience. Initiate partnerships to enhance support services and resources.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilise data and feedback mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of advocacy efforts and make informed decisions for continuous improvement.
- Case Management: Handle sensitive situations and student cases with empathy, ensuring that the student advocacy team offers timely and appropriate information, advice and referral.
This contingent position is full time and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land).
How will you inspire us?
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading and motivating teams, preferably in a student advocacy, university policy and process or similar role.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders and convey complex information clearly.
- Empathy and Compassion: Strong ability to connect with students, demonstrating genuine care and concern for their well-being.
- Collaborative Mindset: Adept at working collaboratively with diverse groups and building partnerships to achieve common goals.
- Knowledge of Higher Education: Familiarity with university systems, policies, and the challenges faced by students in a higher education environment.
- Commitment to Continuous Improvement.

What we offer
The remuneration for this position is from $102,667 FTE +17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.
