We are seeking a Student Counsellor to join our team and provide students with exceptional care and support.
This full time role is based on campus.
Working closely with the Sydney campus team and the wider Charles Sturt University Counselling and Wellbeing Service you will work to ensure student cases are managed appropriately in accordance with university policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide best-practice evidence-based individual counselling, using theoretically sound and evidence-based approaches, available to all students of all study modes, via face-to-face, telephone and online modalities.
- Crisis intervention as appropriate to the need and context, given limited scope and resources.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and resources to promote and support health and wellbeing that are sustainable, scalable, and effective.
- Consult, liaise and collaborate with other Charles Sturt University Sydney colleagues on issues related to student wellbeing.
- Assist in developing and implementing initiatives that enhance the overall well-being of the student body.
It is essential candidates demonstrate the following essential criteria:
- A psychology or social work degree and unconditional membership of AHPRA or eligibility for full membership with AASW
- Extensive experience in the direct provision of mental health and disability support in an organisational setting with demonstrated advocacy and case management skills and experience.
- Ability to design, deliver and evaluate programs, workshops and/or training seminars.
- Awareness of issues of concern to international and domestic students including cultural, ethnic or racial matters, sexual preference and religion.
- Demonstrated skill in negotiating and resolving sensitive and complex issues on behalf of clients.
