Student Counsellor

Contract: Full-time, ongoing

Location: Melbourne, Docklands

Salary Level: $121,256 – $139,448 plus super and great benefits!

The Student Services team is responsible for providing a strategic and coordinated function across the College to ensure the highest quality of student engagement, student support and experience activities. We pride ourselves on providing optimum service and solutions to the Monash College student cohort.

About your next role

We are looking for an experienced Student Counsellor to primarily provide individual counselling and support services to Monash College students. As a professional Counsellor you will also provide both teachers and leaders with appropriate intervention strategies to support students facing personal, family or social issues.

You will play a key role as a member of the Student Services Team providing a comprehensive and integrated framework in response to student needs, with an emphasis on prevention and early intervention.

Your background and experience

Your recent experience in a similar position or environment will see you hit the ground running. An understanding of a broad range of personal, psychological, life stage, cultural and study related issues and the ability to adopt appropriate counselling frameworks is essential.

Ideally you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in psychology with full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Psychology Board of Australia) (essential)
  • Knowledge, understanding and skill in applying a wide range of counselling approaches to assist adult and adolescent students from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Extensive experience with a successful record of providing counselling services in an educational setting for students from diverse cultural and language backgrounds
  • Proven experience developing and conducting wellbeing programs, workshops and presentations that meet the needs of a diverse cultural audience
  • Experience in developing a range of student programs tailored to the cultural, social, emotional and educational needs of students, particularly international students
