Youth2Industry College, is a newly established, small Independent School delivering VCE-VM/VPC to Year 11 & 12 in South Melbourne. Our school was established as an alternative to mainstream schooling with a focus on inspiring students interested in applied learning and vocational pathways. Our learning environment is safe, caring and inclusive. We have small class sizes and tailor learning to reflect the interests and needs of our students.
We are currently expanding our staffing base and are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Student Services Leader.
About the opportunity
The Student Services Leader directs and manages the Student Services Team to ensure the engagement and wellbeing of students, with a particular focus on mental wellbeing. They are responsible for facilitating an inclusive, supportive and safe environment for all Y2IC students. This includes ensuring the College program is accessible and appropriate for those of different genders, sexualities, abilities, ethnicities, cultures and social backgrounds.
This will involve the development and mentoring of classroom teachers in their leadership and care of the student body. Central to this will be providing supports that help resolve practical personal challenges, and when challenges are complex, refer to appropriately skilled agencies. The position will also include overseeing and following up attendance of students and implementing the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) requirements for social emotional students including allocating levels, implementation of appropriate adjustments and record keeping.
About you
To be successful in this highly rewarding role you will demonstrate alignment to the purpose and core values of the College along with:
- A degree or relevant Tertiary qualifications in Psychology or Social Work/Counselling is required and at least five years’ experience in this field
- Prior experience in a Secondary School setting would be advantageous as well as familiarity with NCCD levels and adjustments
- Demonstrated ability to work with a team initiating and managing change especially in relation to restorative practice
- Demonstrated ability to work with a team in developing, implementing and monitoring student welfare
