ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Student Support and Wellbeing officer, you are a key and active participant of the Student Support and Engagement team and provide support as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The Student Support and Wellbeing is accountable for providing holistic, wrap-around support to students, helping students achieve their study goals, engage in student life, and balance their personal wellbeing and welfare needs.
As a Student Support and Wellbeing officer, you will provide generalist support and guidance with enquiries including financial capability, accommodation, social connectedness, and general wellbeing/welfare matters.
Additionally,
- You will be actively involved in health promotion through a range of channels and work closely with local service providers to enhance Chisholm’s service delivery.
- You will specialise in the support of academically ‘at-risk’ student cohorts (e.g., youth), providing timely assessment of student’s wellbeing/welfare and triaging to other services (internal and external) where appropriate.
- You will handle sensitive, complex, and demanding scenarios involving multiple stakeholders, and situations of a potentially sensitive nature.
- You will provide support to students through drop-in sessions, appointments, class talks, presentations, workshops, resource creation, and supports educators to service the needs of the student body from both proactive and reactive approaches to problem solving.
About you-
You will have a tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology, or social work or youth work.
You will also have-
- Experience in the delivery of information and advice, tailored to people from diverse cultural, social, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.
- Capacity to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams in a large organisation
- Case management expertise, and relevant knowledge of community, government, and private welfare support services will be desirable.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
