The College was founded in 1979 and has grown to a dynamic and vibrant education centre located in Adelaide and Perth with approximately 900 students.  The Millswood campus is only five minutes south of the city, in a beautiful setting with plenty of free parking and access via public transport.

About the Role

Tabor is recruiting for a 0.6FTE Student Success and Support Coach. (SSSC)

The Student Success and Support Coach will act as the primary first point of contact for student support needs, including but not limited to, disability support, social inclusion, academic challenges, practical and emotional needs and spiritual care.   The SSSC will use the varied resources Tabor has available to ensure students have the opportunity to feel connected, and to succeed as they journey through Tabor.

The role will be situated at the Millswood campus while working closely with the various Faculties and Student Services and other members of the student support team.

The role is a support focused role and would suit someone with a background in Youth work, Counselling or Ministry. The successful applicant will be comfortable working towards targets and KPIs. 

 

About the Responsibilities

  • Drive student engagement through interpersonal relationship with students during their Tabor journey.
  • The role will initiate, develop and implement a range of student engagment activities that will assist in building the Tabor student culture and community.
  • Effectively and intentionally engage with students (both on campus and on line) with a focus of nurturing through their studies.
  • Identify at risk students and guide them through the support systems in place at Tabor
  • As required participate in off-site or on-site student events. 
  • Participate in on campus student facing activities such as Campus tours, Student Leadership team events, Orientation days and Open days.
  • Achieve targets and KPIs.

About you

  • Passion for the education and training of students in a Christian environment
  • Support focussed with the ability and willingness to engage with students from diverse backgrounds and to create a sense of community and inclusivity
  • Vibrant personality with the ability to bring energy and enthusasm to campus community building events.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Task focused and self-motivated with a can-do attitude. 
  • Ability to assess student support needs and make effective connections and referrals to academic, emotional support and logistic services with the college as well as to relevant external services, effectively and efficiently. 
  • Natural ability and enthusiasm for building community, identity and belonging
  • Effective and engaging interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Capacity and commitment to facilitate timely and efficient connections between all enquiries and relevant personnel and/or information sources
  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to pastoral care such as counselling, youth work, social work, education, ministry or a related field.
