Student Support Assistant – Wellbeing (Casual) / Job ID# 23308

  • Student Services and Engagement | UniSC Sunshine Coast, Sippy Downs
  • Level 3, $43.95 per hour plus 11% superannuation
  • Casual appointment, immediate start Mondays and Tuesdays until 31 October 2023 (Possibility of extension and additional days based on business requirements)

The Opportunity

You will act as the first point of contact for all prospective and current students via phone, email and face to face communications, providing critical support and engagement outcomes for the University. You will manage student matters through professional and meaningful communications and proactively refer to specialist staff as required.

You will

  • effectively manage confidential student matters including answering phones, emails, booking appointments, and following up to provide further support as required;
  • establish and manage effective relationships with students, staff and other University clients through professional and sensitive communication;
  • efficient use of electronic records systems to enter information and maintain accurate records of student communications;
  • recognise and respond appropriately to students from diverse backgrounds demonstrating cultural sensitivity; and
  • recognise and respond to students in distress, providing exceptional customer service.

About you:

You possess excellent communication skills, with the capacity to show empathy, resolve conflicts and maintain confidentiality. You enjoy showcasing your analytical and problem-solving skills and have the capability to use initiative to develop effective solutions and manage multiple priorities with conflicting deadlines. Additionally, you thrive working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and relish the opportunity to build strong working relationships with others.

To be successful you will possess:

  • completion of an Associate Diploma, combined with experience in a customer focussed environment, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and training;
  • demonstrated experience and ability to recognise and respond appropriately to a range of student’s inquiries;
  • an understanding of the challenges that might arise supporting students in distress; and
  • a high level of digital literacy including experience with CRM systems.
