About the role:
Based at our Elgar Road campus, the Student Support Coordinator ensures the effective coordination of a broad range of student support services for students who directly undertake their senior secondary certificates with the Schools Unit within Box Hill Institute.
To support this important work, and offer our students a best-in-class experience, the Student Support Coordinator will play a crucial role within BHI’s VCE, VCE Vocational Major and Victorian Pathways Certificate sub-schools, including:
– Ensuring the timely delivery of support services and programs that have demonstrable impact upon students’ behaviour, experience, retention, attendance, positive progression, learning and pathway success;
– Ensuring effective referral of student needs and requests to appropriate services within Box Hill Institute, including academic counselling, the Disability Liaison Service, the language literacy and numeracy service, Student Life Counselling, Academic support and financial support;
– Leading the development of client centred support services and programs that proactively support culture, engagement and inclusivity;
– Leading the development, implementation, coordination and review of a new pastoral care model that utilises BHI’s current diploma and bachelor students in complementary fields (e.g., Education Support, Community Services, Disability etc.) to undertake structured workplace learning within the Schools Unit.
– Overseeing and contributing to the professional development of all staff within the Schools Unit regarding services and programs offered; building team expertise and professional excellence, coaching, mentoring and ensuring effective communication and dissemination of information.
– Ensuring compliance with audit, quality, legislative, policy/procedure and reporting requirements; supporting the effective use of resources and an ever-improving customer experience and initiatives to ensure cost minimisation and lean operations.
– Liaising with internal and external stakeholders in the identification and implementation of programs and associated activities that enhance the wellbeing and education success of students; applying for grants and raising funds to expand and deliver programs as needed.
This is a full time fixed term position until December 2024.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have a relevant degree in Social Sciences (Social Welfare/Youth Services/Psychology/Mental Health), Counselling or equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant experience.
You will bring extensive experience in current policy and issues relating to behaviour, well-being and support within the education context. You will have experience in the development and delivery of a suite of integrated student support services, and have a working knowledge of a range of student support services.
