JOB DESCRIPTION

Applications are invited from suitably experienced persons for the part-time (two days or 12 hours), ongoing position, 9am – 3:30pm (FTE 0.32) of Learning Support Officer to commence as soon as possible. This is a Category B Level 2 position under the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited Schools and Secretariat Agreement 2022
 

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The role of the Student Wellbeing Officer includes:

  • supporting student attendance, engagement and mental health
  • supporting students in difficult or challenging situations such as during times of grief
  • supporting physical, emotional, social and intellectual development and wellbeing of all students
  • supporting an environment of cooperation and respecting a diversity of cultures and traditions

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate:

  • A commitment to the ethos, values and mission of Catholic education
  • A commitment to Child Safety
  • Capacity to work within the school environment
  • Experience in providing services to improve student engagement and connectedness
  • An ability to provide wellbeing support and specific programs both within and outside of classroom environments to improve student engagement
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff
  • A capacity to work closely with key staff members whilst adhering to the school-based policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Student wellbeing officers must hold a Certificate IV equivalent or higher qualification that includes competencies in mental health and making appropriate referrals, and providing pastoral care or working with youth.
  • A valid Employee Working With Children Check
