Applications are invited from suitably experienced persons for the part-time (two days or 12 hours), ongoing position, 9am – 3:30pm (FTE 0.32) of Learning Support Officer to commence as soon as possible. This is a Category B Level 2 position under the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited Schools and Secretariat Agreement 2022
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The role of the Student Wellbeing Officer includes:
- supporting student attendance, engagement and mental health
- supporting students in difficult or challenging situations such as during times of grief
- supporting physical, emotional, social and intellectual development and wellbeing of all students
- supporting an environment of cooperation and respecting a diversity of cultures and traditions
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate:
- A commitment to the ethos, values and mission of Catholic education
- A commitment to Child Safety
- Capacity to work within the school environment
- Experience in providing services to improve student engagement and connectedness
- An ability to provide wellbeing support and specific programs both within and outside of classroom environments to improve student engagement
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff
- A capacity to work closely with key staff members whilst adhering to the school-based policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Student wellbeing officers must hold a Certificate IV equivalent or higher qualification that includes competencies in mental health and making appropriate referrals, and providing pastoral care or working with youth.
- A valid Employee Working With Children Check
