About the Role

CareSouth are currently seeking Casual Supervised Contact Workers to join the CareSouth Shoalhaven team on a casual basis. We are looking for people that are committed to the work they do everyday and passionate about making a difference within our community. 

Are you a person with mature life experience? Do you have a background working with children and young people? Perhaps you’re a retired education worker or child protection/welfare sector professional, or even a person with foster care experience? This position would be ideal for a person who has experience working with children and is looking to step into a casual role to suit a more flexible lifestyle.

Reporting to the Team Leader, the Supervised Contact Worker position is responsible for providing high quality supervision for visits between children and/or young persons in care and their families. This position must ensure that the child’s best interests are protected during contact. The aim is to facilitate a safe and constructive contact visit comprising of positive interactions between the parent/participant and child/children in order to build their relationship.

We are looking for individuals who fulfil the following criteria:

  1. Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people and people with a disability.
  2. Tertiary qualification or working towards in a relevant discipline e.g. social welfare, psychology, education counselling etc.
  3. Current First Aid Certificate
  4. Excellent communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  5. Excellent observational and report writing skills.
  6. Understanding of child protection and mandatory reporting requirements.
  7. Sound knowledge of child development
  8. Ability to remain impartial at all times.
  9. Ability to risk assess varying situations.
  10. Current drivers licence, comprehensively insured vehicle, mobile phone and access to a computer.
