Support Worker – AOD Canberra Detox & Rehab Services

JOB DESCRIPTION

Canberra Detox and Rehab Services is leading confidential recovery retreat located in the Canberra region. We are looking for a Support Worker to join our excellent established team that support our guests with addiction, and mental health recovery in a relaxed non-clinical, retreat style home environment. We focus primarily on helping people through their recovery with professional support and complementary therapies. We protect our guests’ privacy and provide a high level of care and understanding.

Our guests are provided professional support, counselling and supervision with a range of recovery and healing strategies during their stay. Our experienced  team make the recovery process the best possible experience for each person. Our guests enjoy a contemporary upmarket retreat in a beautiful bush setting without the formality of clinical services.

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the field of substance abuse and addiction treatment, as well as a passion for helping individuals recover from their addiction. The Support Worker will be responsible for professional support and supervision for guests engaged in a range of recovery strategies during their stay. Case load is small, with a high staff to guest ratio.

We have weekday, evening-sleepover and weekend shifts available

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support and supervision to guests during residential recovery
  • Assess and monitor guests’ needs and contribute to individualized treatment plans in collaboration with guests and other members of an interdisciplinary team
  • Deliver AOD education
  • Document care and maintain accurate records
  • Maintain knowledge of current practices and developments in the fields of stress management, trauma informed counselling and addiction 

Requirements:

  • Cert IV or diploma in Alcohol and Other Drugs, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in professional support roles
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to providing care and support to individuals
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and tact
