Support Worker – Casual New Horizons

You will be the first point of contact for NDIS participants, families and Support Coordinators who are seeking information about New Horizons or who have chosen us to provide services for them under an NDIS plan. 

Based in Bowral, the role is a CASUAL Support Worker with rotating shifts providing the highest quality in high needs / complex care disability services to the community.

The hours of work vary from weekday shifts, evening and weekend shifts. 

These positions support the delivery of Community based supported accommodation that is funded by the National Disability Insurance Scheme. 

The Day to Day

  • Meet the daily care needs of residents within the community 
  • Provide support to residents presenting with complex care needs
  • Tasks may include but are not limited too; personal care, manual handling, meal preparation, adhering to specialist plans and medication administration, accompanying to appointments.

You are:

  • Punctual, Friendly, Outgoing, Non-Judgemental, Flexible, Persistent, Empathetic, Practical, Balanced, Compassionate, warm
  • Invested in provided the highest quality in disability services to the community.
  • Competent in working with people with a disability

What you need to have:

  • Appropriate certificate level qualification in Disability or Community Services, OR equivalent relevant experience in the human services industry
  • Valid NSW Drivers C class licence, with ability to drive vehicles in licence class, including large cars and vans.
  • Must be fit to undertake the physical requirements of customer support, including the capacity to lift 10 kilograms unassisted
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, other common systems
  • Passion, Respect & Integrity

Ideally you will also have:

  • Experience in personal care, aged care, manual handling, disabilities or AIN (assistance in nursing) would all be highly regarded.
  • Advanced Solid knowledge of services and programs under NDIS
  • Understanding of Person-Centred Practices.
  • COVID Vaccination in line with Health Orders
