Support Worker for Women and children escaping domestic violence Uniting NSW & ACT

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role is responsible for the provision of safe and appropriate accommodation and support services to residents through the delivery of high-quality care to service users.  Residents in this facility are domestic and family violence survivors

  • Full time in Parramatta area 9:00 – 5:00 pm

Specialist Homelessness Services of Uniting provide outreach and crisis support and case management to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including those with tenancy issues and escaping domestic violence. The services support people with the aim of breaking the cycle of homelessness through person centered support and coordination, referral, advocacy and development. 

Role Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with intake and assessment where relevant to the role
  • Develop and monitor support plans/individual case plans, based on Services Practice Guidelines
  • Provide individual assistance for clients (vulnerable women) in line with support plans and identified goals
  • Also involved are – some light cleaning, making beds, going up and down the stairs, carrying /moving material donations

About you in the role:

  • Certificate IV (minimum) in Community Services, Mental Health, Youth Work or other relevant field
  • Experience working with vulnerable people, relevant to the service (women and children – domestic and family violence survivors)
  • Knowledge of best-practice for Specialist Homelessness funded Services
  • Ability to think on feet and support women work through complex issues
  • The role is designated for a female under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act
  • Current Driver’s Licence – able to drive a People mover – van
