The Intensive Family Support Service responds to vulnerable families with children and young people (up to 18), who are at risk of involvement in the statutory child protection system. This is a consent-based program providing case management for clients who agree to engage with the service.

Our Intensive Family Support team is currently recruiting a Support Worker which is a permanent, full-time role based in our Hervey Bay office. 

About the role   

Our Support Worker assists our Case Managers to support vulnerable and at-risk families to build their capacity to safely care for and nurture their children.

As part of a small team, on a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Assist Case Managers with home visits with children 
  • Help where required with the transportation of clients
  • Assist with practical tasks in the home, including the coordination of support services that advance the family case plan goals 
  • Attend and participate in case reviews
  • Maintain up to date records in required databases
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy in all matters and operate within professional boundaries 

 To make a difference in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in supporting families at home
  • The confidence and ability to build structured relationships with parents, young people and children
  • Positive role modelling with clients, including respectful dialogue and coping strategies
  • Cultural awareness and an ability to engage with clients from different background, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Well-developed communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills 
  • A Certificate III in Community Services or similar is desirable
