Support Worker – New Migrant Settlement Services Centacare Family Services Geraldton

JOB DESCRIPTION

Centacare Family Services offer relationship and community services to individual, couples, and families. Our Organisation provides professional assistance in a manner which promotes human dignity and enhances growth and wellbeing.

Centacare Family Services are currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced Support Workers. This position will be providing free information and referrals to assist newly arrived migrants in establishing their lives in the Midwest, ensuring a successful settlement journey. 

A remuneration package based on the SCHCADS Award 2010 will be offered based on skills and experience; level 4.1 $41.52 per/hour plus superannuation and salary packaging options.

This is a part-time, 2 year max term position working 25 hours per week.

Key Functions

  • Provide hands on support to newly arrived migrants with information and referrals to relevant services including, but not limited to:
    • Housing, Health Care, Schooling, Employment and Training providers, Mental Health, and Community Groups. 
  • Provide client information through multiple channels such as face to face or online meetings, telephone service and walk-in. 
  • Collaborate with the multicultural community to develop a culturally appropriate service delivery model. 
  • Promote the benefits of multiculturalism within the local community. 

Qualifications

  • Formal qualification in Community Services; or working towards, would be well regarded. 

Experience

  • Strong IT skills, including experience with data entry. 
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills, including communicating with people who have a language other than English as their first language.
  • Experience in record keeping and report writing. 
  • Proven experience in engaging with community members and stakeholders. 
  • A strong working knowledge of services within the Geraldton community applicable to a newly arrived migrant. 
  • Ability to work within the philosophy and ethos of Centacare.
