The Samaritans WA, Ruah Community Services and Telethon Kids Institute have partnered to open an early-intervention, residential, short-stay service for young people aged 16-24 years who are experiencing suicidal thoughts. The Youth Suicide Sanctuary (YSS) will be a place for young people to build hope and resilience under the guidance of trained staff.
We are seeking a Team Lead to join the YSS team! The position will work on a part-time, 19 hours per week basis, fixed-term until the 30 June 2024.
The Team Lead position is a key service delivery role responsible for achieving outcomes to clients through our Youth Suicide Sanctuary (YSS) program partnership.
As a Team Lead you will play an important role in supporting the initiative through the provision of clinical services, and effective management of the service area. You will advocate on behalf of clients served by your team within senior and executive management decision making forums. In this regard, you will play a significant role in achieving the objectives of the program.
Your role requires coaching and mentoring of your team to ensure agreed outcomes and performance indicators are achieved within the resources available.
You will be expected to apply your personal drive, professional experience, and exemplary conduct to building and sustaining a high performing team that effectively responds to and addresses client issues.
Essential
It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Experience in provision of clinical services to clients.
- Experience in working with clients with suicidal thoughts and behaviours.
- Experience in leading a successful team within a mental health &/or youth suicide service.
- Experience in direct service delivery to address client needs in a mental health &/or youth suicide service.
- Experience in managing for the achievement of client outcomes in a mental health &/or youth suicide service.
- Strong ability to respond in a timely manner to address competing client needs.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including strong skills in negotiation and consultation.
- Experience in developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident public speaking and presentation style.
Specialist criteria
- As a specialist in mental health &/or youth suicide services, your role would be to support the learning and development needs of staff in this specialist area.

Required Compliance Documents:
- Qualification as a AHPRA-registered psychologist, PACFA-registered counsellor or other relevant clinician
