The Opportunity
The Family Services Team Leader is a full-time, 12 month fixed-term role based at our Sandringham and Frankston sites (Bunurong Land) and provides leadership to the Family Services program area.
Family Life offers a range of services within the Family Services team including: Integrated Family Services, Family Preservation and Reunification Response, Integrated Family Services Plus, Brief Intervention, Early Help and Community Bubs. The Family Services Team Leader will function as an integral part of our collaborative leadership team in addition to holding specific portfolios within the outreach case management space.
The Team Leader holds direct line management responsibility for a team of practitioners, working across the mentioned areas of case management, ensuring best practice in responding to the complex needs experienced by families and children. The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing inbound referrals and balancing practitioner workloads, providing regular supervision and support to practitioners and maintaining their allocated portfolio. They will contribute to the review and development of policy and procedure, representing Family Life in networking with community stakeholders while ensuring that practice is aligned with and meeting funding requirements.
The Family Services Team Leader will work in collaboration with the Family Services Team promoting teamwork and positive team culture. They will encourage innovation in program development in response to community needs and program funding requirements.
Key Responsibility Areas
The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading and supervising a team of staff, students and volunteers to deliver case management, community development, group work and other service delivery practices.
- Overseeing inbound referrals and coordinating the allocation of referrals to practitioners across the various program areas.
- Developing and reporting on a Team Work Plan to deliver delegated team responsibilities.
- Leading quality assurance processes and developing responses to best practice guidelines including innovation of current processes to better respond to organisational requirements and community needs.
- Oversee the delivery of the organisation’s individual, family and group services programs.
- Representing the organisation in appropriate service networking and service development forums to build, develop and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Maintaining all required documentation to evidence impact and effectiveness of service delivery in a complete, accurate and timely manner, as required by the organisation’s standards and program contracts.
- Providing supervision and support to practitioners, students and volunteers involved in direct services.
- In addition, the Family Services Team Leader will support the program with any other reasonable requirements essential to program functioning.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate would be committed to meeting the needs of at-risk families, infants, children and adolescents, guided by the agency’s ‘whole-of-family’ approach and community-based model of service delivery. They will have knowledge of the Child Youth and Families Act 2005 and have extensive experience in supporting clients experiencing various vulnerabilities including but not limited to; family violence, trauma, mental health and AOD. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading a team of practitioners supporting complex families. The Family Services Team Leader will have a strengths based, trauma informed and client centred approach. Our candidate would also have experience in providing professional supervision, training and performance management for practitioners. They will have high level written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. A Bachelor level qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or similar Human Services qualifications is required.
