JOB DESCRIPTION

We have an amazing leadership role based in our Foster Care Team South (Frankston) you do not want to miss !

In the working environment we need passionate , pivotal and dedicated employees & leaders who are driven to leave their mark & provide hope so our future generations can thrive !

The purpose of the Team Leader position is to support the Program Manager in delivery and performance of the program through the leadership and management of a team and case management activities and in doing so ensure the review and development of both OzChild and DFFH policy and practice guidelines for the effective delivery of high-quality services to children and young people, their families and to carers/volunteers. Enhance practice and service quality through policy and program development. Provide leadership support and supervision to team leadership in a complex and demanding environment.

Leadership can mean many things to different people. One good definition of an effective leader is a person who creates an inspiring vision of the future, motivates and inspires people to engage with that vision, manages delivery of the vision, & coaches & builds a team, so that it is more effective at achieving the vision.

When considering what strong leadership looks like, there are a few qualities of a great leader that tend to be true across the board – these are traits that every good leader has or should strive for

Inspiration
Equally as important as having a vision is the ability to convey that vision to others, & get them excited about it. This means maintaining a positive yet realistic presence within the organisation helping team members stay motivated & engaged & remember what it is that they are working for

Interpersonal Communication
Good leaders must be able to interact with other people in a way that feels genuine. This does not mean you have to be an extrovert or a people-person to be a leader – there are many excellent leaders who self-identify as introverts! Rather, it means being able to demonstrate empathy, engaging in active listening & building meaningful working relationships with those around you, whether they are a peer or a direct report.

Open-Mindedness & Creativity
Being a good leader means being open to new ideas, possibilities & perspectives & understanding that there’s no “right” way to do things. Leadership involves the knowledge that success comes with a willingness to change how things are done & to bring in fresh eyes to inspire new ideas, in addition to trying to think outside the box as much as possible. Leaders must be able to listen, observe & be willing to change course when necessary.

Responsibility & Dependability
One of the most important qualities a leader can have is a sense of responsibility & dependability. This means displaying those traits in your individual work, but also demonstrating them in your interactions with others. Your team members need to know that they can depend on you to take on your fair share of work & support them through tough times & help them meet both shared and individual goals.

Continuous Improvement
True leaders know that there is always room for improvement on all levels, from the personal to the team to the overall organisation. They’ll always be willing to help members find ways to develop new skills or improve upon a weakness, be able to identify & implement strategies for helping their staff and the organisation as a whole grow

Are you that leader that leads by example, that brings his/her team along on his / her journey ? If so then we have the perfect role for you – come join our Foster Care team in Frankston & lead your team to not only successful outcomes but to all achieve and meet a common goal !
