Permanency Support Program, Supported Independent Living- Team Leader

Location: Newcastle and Central Coast

Full-time Contract until 30th June 2027

Remuneration: Social, Community, Home Case and Disability Service Award 2010- Level 6 – Salary $102,552 – $107,079 

 

The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, driven, and passionate Team Leader who is experienced in leading, supervising and developing a passionate team of Case Managers. The team provide all aspects of case work to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in the Samaritans Permanency Program.

The primary focus being:

  • Giving every child and young person the chance to have a loving, permanent home for life and strong family connections.
  • Striving to work with families to support successful restoration into family and culture and to provide ongoing support for families.
  • Work as an integral part of the leadership team for Samaritans PSP to introduce a series of reforms that shift the current placement-based service system to one that is centred on restoration and building lifelong connections to family using the principles of Family Finding.

Essential Criteria: 

  • Tertiary degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, Early Education or similar.
  • Experience in supervising a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that provide the basis for effective negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution practices and outcomes.
  • A non-judgemental and empathetic approach to engaging and working with children and young people and their families.
  • High level of autonomy in setting own priorities in line with strategic objectives of the organisation.
  • Highly developed case management documentation skills, including experience with Permanency Program legal requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the relevant Government legislation applicable to the Permanency Program.
  • Overseeing case management that focusses on the engagement of families and carers is highly regarded.

The successful applicant will possess or willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, first aid & CPR certificate and undertake a pre-employment functional medical.
