Work from home whilst providing outreach across the eastern part of South Australia – from Riverland to the South East.

Who are we looking for?

In Australia, more than 3,000 people take their own life each year. StandBy – Support After Suicide was established in 2002 to meet the need for a coordinated community response to suicide. This 24/7 program supports anyone who has been bereaved or impacted by suicide at any stage in their life, providing both direct and coordinated support from local service and groups.

We are seeking an experienced Practitioner who understands the impact of suicide and can promptly respond to suicide in the community by supporting those who have been impacted by suicide.

What can you expect to be doing?

  • Respond to community notifications and support requests of those who’ve been bereaved or impacted by suicide.
  • Ensure quality delivery of the StandBy program, working collaboratively and innovatively to deliver best practice service to clients.
  • Ensure notifications and support requests are responded to sensitively and in accordance with the StandBy Model.
  • Present at community education workshops, public events and network meetings, raising awareness for the StandBy model.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships across the organisation and other members of the StandBy National Team.

What do you need to bring?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or relevant Allied Health profession, or significant relevant experience.
  • Experience working with families and individuals bereaved by suicide and demonstrated understanding of the impact of suicide on individuals, groups and communities.
  • Proven ability to build constructive relationships and work in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to recognise and effectively manage risk and to make clear decisions in confronting situations.
  • Ability to build constructive relationships and work in partnership with various stakeholders.
