Banyule Community Health is looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Counsellor to lead our team of Generalist Counsellors, Gamblers Help Therapeutic and Financial Counsellors and oversee our integrated family violence support services. This is a great opportunity to work in a professional and supportive team based environment alongside other experienced and passionate staff in the Wellbeing and Support Program. The position is fulltime, working from West Heidelberg and Greensborough.

Your motivation, interpersonal skills, and Counselling expertise will see you excel in this role as you:

  • Provide day-to-day operational support, debriefing  and line management supervision to a multidisciplinary team including; Social Workers, Counsellors and Financial Counsellors
  • Maximise opportunities for collaborative practices and integrated responses that meet client needs
  • Provide regular opportunities for the team to meet and collaborate towards best possible outcomes for clients, including leadership support in planning, trialling and evaluating new models of care.

What you will need: 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, organisational skills and time management skills, including the ability to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or Counselling with a minimum of 5 years experience working in the Mental Health/AoD sector
  • Keen interest in providing clinical leadership to team members, and demonstrated ability to support and motivate others
  • Ability to assess, manage and document clinical risks and support staff with clinical risk issues.
